Florida Ocean Ash Scattering Ceremony

West Palm Beach Burial At Sea

Say Goodbye To Loved Ones

Choosing the final resting place of your departed loved one is both a solemn and healing process for those left behind.

A burial at sea, one of the oldest and most honored traditions, is a beautiful and memorable way to honor the deceased for the final farewell. It takes them on a journey around the world and back again by the scattering of ashes.

Our goal is to tailor this specifically to you and your family and make this as easy and relaxing as possible during your ceremony.

Attended Ash Scattering Burials

All information about how the at-sea burial will take place will be gathered and discussed before the trip, so on the day of, all you need to do is show up at the pickup dock location. This trip generally takes about 2.5 hours. Plan on a 45-minute trip out and a 45-minute return trip back to the dock.

The boat holds up to 6 guests. You may bring your minister as part of your group of 6 attendees.

This trip generally takes about 2.5 hours. Plan on a 45-minute trip out and a 45-minute return trip back to the dock.

With both sunrise and sunset trips available or a time the family decides, the Bonnie Lee will depart the marina and head out the Lake Worth Inlet and will travel offshore approximately three nautical miles into the Gulf Stream, where the ashes of your loved one will be scattered and carried into the oceans of the world.

Once in position, the Captain will note the GPS coordinates and make note of the day and sea conditions and, if requested, deliver a brief ceremony for the family or allow time for the family to do their own. We will enable the family full autonomy in how they want the ceremony conducted and be 100% private.

Guests can bring their own beverages, snacks, toasting supplies, biodegradable flowers, and personal messages written on stone or paper notes. You may bring your selection of music to play by pairing it with our sound system or provided on a CD. If you would like items prepared and provisioned on your behalf, please let us know.

Please note:

If offshore water conditions are not favorable or safe to venture out, your loved one’s ashes may be scattered in the Intracoastal Waterway or at the mouth of the Lake Worth Inlet.

The Captain will communicate any adverse conditions before your ash scattering ceremony and recommend a release time that coincides with a falling tide so that cremains are carried out to sea.

  • Captain meets with guests at the dock 10-15 minutes prior to departure time.
  • Embark the private 25ft Boston Whaler.
  • A USCG required safety brief and overview of the boat is provided by the Captain to all passengers.
  • Departure proceeds to a tranquil location 3 nautical miles off shore passing Peanut Island before heading out the Lake Worth Inlet.

  • Client/Family are welcome to bring their own music to link via Bluetooth to our sound system or on a CD.
  • Arrival at serene location, the Captain, Minister and/or family members will provide a reading of a passage, conduct the ceremony, release of ashes, memorial flowers/rose petals and or any biodegradable mementos. Captain will note the GPS coordinates

Why The Atlantic Gulf Stream Is Ideal For Ocean Ash Scattering Burials

Originating in the Gulf of Mexico, wrapping around the tip of Florida before turning North along the East coast of the United States, the Gulf Stream is one of Earth’s most powerful forces and ideal for carrying ashes to every part of the seven oceans around the globe. For this reason, anytime you walk along the beach or see a whale breach the surface or a wave breaking as it reaches your toes, you can find comfort and peace knowing your loved one is near.

Global Ocean Currents For Ash Scattering

Due to Federal Regulation, THC of any kind (even if prescribed) may not be brought on board the vessel. Firearms/weapons, liquor, dark wines, aerosol sunscreen, tanning oils/lotions and smoking is prohibited. Proper footwear must be worn. See Info/FAQ on our website for more information.
